A Different Way to
Move Through Divorce
For people who want to stay out of court and move through family law matters with clarity, support, and as little conflict as possible.
You don’t need to have everything figured out to reach out.
There is another way to approach this
Divorce is difficult, even when both people are trying to do it well.
Most families don’t need more pressure, more conflict, or more people making decisions for them. They need a process that helps them work through what’s happening in a way that is thoughtful, structured, and focused on long-term outcomes.
Collaborative family law is designed for that.
It creates space to slow things down, understand what matters, and move toward agreements that everyone can live with.
How collaborative law works
Instead of going to court, collaborative law uses a structured, step-by-step process to help you reach agreements together.
Each person has their own attorney, and you may also work with a team that can include a financial specialist or a coach, depending on your needs. Everyone is focused on helping you resolve things outside of litigation.
You meet, talk through decisions, and work toward solutions that are realistic, workable, and tailored to your situation.
The goal is not to “win,” but to reach an outcome that allows you and your family to move forward with clarity and stability.
What collaborative divorce looks like
A short overview of how the process works
Hi, I’m Kristina Gibbs-Ruby
I practiced family law in a traditional litigation setting for many years, and saw how often that process made things harder for families.
That experience led me to focus entirely on collaborative, non-litigated approaches: work that is structured, thoughtful, and centered on helping people move forward without unnecessary conflict.
This work is deeply personal to me. I believe family law can be practiced in a way that is both effective and humane.

"Kristina is an exceptional lawyer who combines a sharp legal mind with deep compassion and sympathy; skills that are so important when going through a divorce. She was readily available when the inevitable twists and turns of the divorce process arose and I knew she had my back . Kristina took great care to thoroughly understand me and my situation which made a difficult divorce easier. With Kristina by my side, I felt supported legally and emotionally as we navigated the process. I highly recommend Kristina."

“Great experience – I was in need of creating a first-time Parenting Plan for my 10-yr old son. His mother & I were never married, and have not been together for several years. It had become apparent recently that my son was no longer safe with her so I set about trying to change that. I initially contacted Kristina for a consultation and found her advice to be just what I needed. She was very thorough in her explanation of the steps it would involve, how the court would be involved, etc. After talking with her I felt I would be in good and knowledgeable hands. As I write this, the Parenting Plan has already become a final order and I was granted every request. Kristina and her paralegal guided me and kept me informed at every step. They were a great team working on my behalf.”

"I hired Kristina when leaving a domestic violence marriage with a baby and I've never felt more supported than by her! She was extremely considerate, kind, did not push anything onto me, and made sure I understood 100% of everything going on. She was not judgemental and she gave wonderful advice and if she didn't know an answer off the top of her head she let me know and she went out of her way to get the knowledge. Kristina was someone I could talk to easily and was so friendly and professional and always made sure to get back to my emails very quickly. She is my #1 suggestion to anyone needing her type of service!"
